Astro is set to deepen it’s commitment to local Tamil storytelling with the introduction of a new wave of homegrown Tamil premiers across it’s platforms, reinforcing it’s role as Malaysia’s leading content and entertainment company. Titles such as Manam, Raja Rani, and Thural will anchor this exciting slate, offering audiences emotionally rich narratives that reflect contemporary Malaysian Tamil experiences.

In line with these premiers, Astro has also extended Vinmeen’s exclusive series slot from 30 minutes to a full hour, allowing viewers to enjoy two back-to-back local Tamil dramas in one sitting. The expanded slot airs at 9:30PM, every Monday to Thursday, and is available on Astro Vinmeen (Channel 202) via TV, Astro GO, On Demand, and sooka. Beyond enhancing viewer engagement, this move also creates wider opportunities for local production houses, director, and artistes to showcase high-quality storytelling on a national platform.

The drama follows Sheena, a devoted wife who supports her husband Varun’s rise within the corporate world. However, her seemingly stable marriage begins to unravel when Varun’s behaviour changes, leading Sheena to uncover his infidelity.

Despite pressure from her influential in-laws, Sheena finds the courage to reclaim her dignity and independence. Directed by SD Puvanendran and produced by Seelan Manoheran, Manam stars a strong ensemble cast including Jayshree, Surrya Prakash, Subashini, Seelan Manoheran, Mathialagan, Nithiyaswari and Ashwini Nambiar. New episodes air Monday to Thursday at 9.30PM on Astro Vinmeen.
Raja Rani: Love, Loyalty and Moral Conflict
Set to premiere in March 2026, Raja Rani explores the emotional complexities of marriage when past and present collide. The story centres on Aadhi, whose life is thrown into turmoil when his former love, Swetha, returns seeking help, threatening his relationship with his wife, Kanmani.

Directed by Gautham Thangavel and produced by Prakash Subramaniam, the series delves into themes of betrayal, compassion, and emotional responsibility. The drama features a mix of debut and established local talents including Sathisvaran, Devakanni, and Chandhine Kaur.
Thural: Family, Sacrifice and Unspoke Tensions
Premiering in May 2026, Thural presents a layered family drama led by Lakshmi, a career-driven woman navigating professional demands while caring for her family. Her decision to arrange her son Arjun’s marriage to Sandhya sparks conflict, which intensifies when Sandhya’s pregnancy brings hidden tensions to the surface.

Directed by C.Kumaresan, Thural stars popular local artistes such as Preetha Prasad, Thevaguru, and Pashini. This promises a heartfelt exploration of love, duty and generational expectations.
