The Penang Hindu Endowments Board (PHEB) has announced that the construction of a long-awaited crematorium facility in Bagan Dalam, Butterworth, Penang.

The new facility to be built along Jalan Telaga Air on land owned by PHEB, marks a significant milestone for the Hindu community in Penang. Designed to address longstanding needs, the crematorium will be equipped with two modern incinerators to ensure smoother, more systematic and efficient operations.

With enhanced capacity, the facility aims to reduce waiting times, improve overall service delivery and provide a dignified, well-managed final rites process for families during times of mourning. The project reflects PHEB’S continued efforts to strengthen essential community infrastructure while upholding cultural and religious sensitivities.

The initiative is made possible through a RM1.5 million allocation approved by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, underscoring the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing the needs of Malaysia’s diverse communities. The funding support is expected to significantly accelerate the realisation of the project.

Tender details will be published on the board’s official Facebook page and qualified contractors are encouraged to participate.
