A Malaysian dance group is preparing to take a new step into the world’s most respected dance platforms, carrying the representation of culture, identity and unity.
Ranav Squad, is a homegrown dance collective started in 2020, and has been selected to compete at the Body Rock Asia 2026. Body Rock Asia is a international competition often called as “Super Bowl of the Dance Community”. Known for it’s legacy in shaping global dance culture, the competition brings together dance crews from all over Asia, each of them pushes the boundaries of choreography.
A Prestigious Stage in the Heart of Asia
Body Rock Asia is set to take place on 11th April 2026, at U.P. Theatre in the University of Philippines, Diliman. The competition will have more than 25 teams from across the region. Ranav Squad’s selection stands out as having qualified among 72 international teams.
Unlike many competitions, Body Rock Asia emphasises authenticity. With no imposed themes, crews are encouraged to present their own artistic identity. An approach that aligns with Ranav Squad’s vision of expressing a unique Malaysian narrative through dance.
Since the formation, Ranav Squad has focused on more than just performance. The group brings together dancers from different backgrounds, all of them united with a shared goal, which is representing Malaysia on global stages. Their approach challenges their boundaries, mixing different styles and influences to create performances that are both culturally expressive.
For Body Rock Asia 2026, the team is further strengthening it’s presence through collabs with established local groups such as Hyperflex Dance Crew and KL Mazhai Dancers. This collab reflects a broad spirit in Malaysian’s dance community.
Beyond a Competition: A Pathway to Global Recognition
Body Rock Asia is more than just a competition, it is a step to international recognition. Top-performing teams will get into the global finals in San Diego, offering opportunities to connect with choreographers, dancers and industry professionals around the world.
For Ranav Squad, this moment represents more than a participation, it is the chance to position Malaysian dance within a global stage.
Supporting A Journey of Talent and Representation
As the team prepares for the international stage, their journey shows the realities behind representing a country at this level. From travel and accommodation to production and training, competing international requires resources.
Ranav Squad in regard to this is currently exploring sponsorship opportunities to support their participation. This will not only support their presence at Body Rock Asia 2026, but also contributes to the long-term growth of local dancers who strives to make their mark internationally. It is an opportunity for individuals and organizations to be part of their journey.
