The project announced by Deputy Minister of Education Wong Kah Woh, will be seeing the rebuilding of important facilities to provide a better learning environment for students and teachers.

In the year 2024, the school’s main block was classified as a severely damaged structure, placing it under the highest category of unsafe buildings. Following this, a approval was granted in October 2025 for a full reconstruction under the first rolling plan of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13) for 2026.

The redevelopment project is included with 6 new classrooms along with an administrative office, a teacher’s office, and a sports store. New facilities such as Design and Technology (RBT) room, a science laboratory, and a guidance and counseling room will be built to help students academic and personal growth.

With RM14.5 Million of total allocation, this project aims to complete important school facilities and create a more conducive environment for teachers and students. Wong Kah Woh visited the site recently, with representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Perak State Education Department (JPN) and Public Works Department (JKR) to receive a briefing on the timeline and progress of the project. According to the update, the tender process and issuance of acceptance letter will be expected to be finalised before end of this year.

Once construction starts, the project will take up to 22 months to complete. Several leaders including Perak councillor A.Sivanesan, and other state representatives, with education officials were present during the visit. Which shows a collective effort to ensure the project moves smoothly.

SJKT Gopeng’s redevelopment does not only address safety concerns but represents a long-term investment in education. As the school prepares to celebrate 8 decades of history, new facilities is expected to benefit future generation of students, that provides them a safer and complete learning surrounding.
