The Penang Government has allocated RM2.42 Million this year to Penang Tamil Schools Special Committee to enhance education quality and support development of young learners. Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said RM768, 901 from the overall allocation will be given to 28 SJKT schools through Parent-Teacher Association (PTAs) to maintain conductive learning environment.

Focus on Early Education and Development of the Digital
An additional RM194,400 will be distributed to 11 SJKT preschools to strengthen early childhood education, and RM1.33 million will be given to the Penang Education Council (PEC) to improve infrastructure and enhance Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) skills. Chief Minister Chow said this allocation is the state’s continued commitment to strengthening educational foundations and preparing students for future challenges.

The initiative also includes RM120,000 for three Punjabi Education Centres and RM30,000 for the Telugu Association, underscoring the state’s emphasis on inclusive education.
The announcement was made during a contribution presentation ceremony at Komtar, attended by many important leaders including Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo, and Penang Tamil Schools Special Committee chairman Datuk Seri S. Sundarajoo.

Ongoing Projects and New Initiatives
Chow said that the state is looking at the new construction buildings of SJKT Rajaji and SJKT Ladang Byram in Nibong Tebal, while continuing efforts to advocate for establishment of Malaysia’s first Tamil secondary school.
Meanwhile. Sundarajoo highlighted several new initiatives funded under the allocation, including providing free desks and chair for all SJKT, as well as organising stress management programmes for school leaders.

The committee also plans to introduce prayer rooms in all 28 SJKT schools, with 4 already implementing the initiative, to better accommodate students religious needs. In addition, efforts are underway to organise the penang Tamil Schools Annual Sports event to promote healthy lifestyle and sportsmanship, alongside Bahasa Malaysia camps aimed at strengthening language proficiency among pupils.
