The Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad has announced that the government has extended the Madani30 initiative. The Madani30 is the initiative where KTM offers a 30% discount on train fares. The extension follows the overwhelming response from the public. The Ministry of Transport has announced will allow the commuters to continue enjoying reduced fares on Electric Train Services (ETS) and Electric Rail Transit (ERT) until May 14, 2026.
Initially, as per our previous article, the Madani30 discount campaign was scheduled to run until April 30, 2026, as part of effort to ease the cost of living. However, due to strong public demand and high ticket purchases, the government decided to extend the initiative for an additional two weeks.
The discount programme quickly gained traction among Malaysians, with many taking advantage of the more affordable travel option. Beyond providing immediate financial relief, the initiative also supports efforts to encourage greater use of public transportation, promoting more sustainable and efficient travel nationwide.
With the extension now in place, commuters are encouraged to plan their journeys early and make full use of the 30% fare reduction before the campaign concludes on May 14, 2026.
