AirAsia X has denied recent media reports alleging that its subsidiary, Philippines AirAsia (flight code:Z2) has its operations grounded. The airline has confirmed that these reports are false and misleading, clarifying that they do not reflect the current status of its services.
AirAsia X reports that all Z2 flights continue to operate as scheduled across its network, subject to normal operational factors such as weather and routine airline operations. AirAsia has emphasised that there has been no suspension or grounding of its flights in the Philippines.
The airline also addressed the circulation of these reports, suggesting they are part of a coordinated attempt to misrepresent the airline’s operations and influence public perception within the Philippine aviation sector. It added that such narratives could potentially impact fair competition and consumer choice in the market.

Tony Fernandes, Co-founder and Advisor of AirAsia Group said “AirAsia has long championed affordable travel and will continue to stand firmly against any development that harms consumers or restricts access to air connectivity. AirAsia carries almost seven million guests in the Philippines annually and our commitment to the Philippines is absolute. We are deeply invested in the country, its people and its future. For over a decade, we have played a key role in democratising air travel, making flying accessible to millions of Filipinos who may not otherwise have had the opportunity to travel by air.”
He further highlighted ongoing and future developments, including investments in airport infrastructure such as Ninoy Aquino International Airport and Mactan-Cebu International Airport. These expansions, he said, are expected to improve connectivity, enhance efficiency, and support further growth of its fleet and network in the region.
AirAsia reaffirmed its commitment to serving the public, supporting tourism, and contributing to economic development in the Philippines, ensuring continued access to safe, reliable, and affordable air travel for passengers.
