Malaysia is proud and is celebrating the wins of our athletes Shereen Samson Vallabouy and Jonah Chang who secured gold medal in their own game categories.
Shereen won the women’s 400m game with season-best time, 52.73s. She won against Jithma Shenari Wijethunga from Sri Lanka, who clocked 53.16s, while Sophia Gregorevic from Australia took 3rd place with a time of 53.86s.
The gold medal is a motivation for Shereen as she prepares for Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on 19th September to 4th October 2026. Shereen showed improvement throughout the competition, by lowering her time more than a second after recording 53.85s in the semi-finals.

Speaking after the race, she expressed her gratitude and happiness for delivering such a strong performance.
“I thank god because it has taken me a long time to get a good time. All my hard work in training has paid off. I am happy to get my momentum and I am getting stronger in every competition,” she said.
Jonah Chang Wins Gold

Malaysia celebrated another gold medal as Jonah Chang, won in the men’s shot with a throw of 18.22 metres. Jonah has a national record of 18.81m and has showed his consistency on international stage with another strong performance.
Umar Breaks Record, and Wins Silver
There was another good news as Umar Osman won the silver medal in the men’s 400m final. He broke his own national records in the semi-finals with the time 45.73s. He later clocked 46.42s in the final to finish second.
Umar said he was relieved to finally improve his national record after three years of hard work. And Armin Zahryl Abdul Latif won another medal for Malaysia. The athlete won bronze medal in men’s 110m in 13.87s.
The strong wins by all the Malaysians has showed the growing strengthen of the country’s athletics as they continue to prepare for major international competition later this year.
