Malaysian professional squash player Thanusaa Uthrian has continued her impressive rise on the international stage after winning her Professional Squash Association (PSA) title at the UTU Singapore Challenger 2026. The tournament took place from July 1 to July 5, 2026, at the Kallang Squash Centre in Singapore.
Thanusaa Lifts Women’s Trophy
On July 5, 2026, Thanusaa lifts the Women’s trophy which marks the biggest PSA title of her career and strengthens what has been an outstanding season for the young Malaysian. Thanusaa entered the tournament and showcased outstanding performances against higher-ranked opponents and emerged as champion.
Her biggest challenge came in the semi-finals, where she had a thrilling five-game battle with Harleein Tan, winning 9-11, 11-4. 7-11, 11-6, 11-7 after showing remarkable resilience.

The final featured an all-Malaysian showdown against compatriot K. Sehveetrraa. Thanusaa fought back after dropping the opening game and was leading 2-1 before Sehveetrraa, who had entered the match carrying an ankle injury, was forced to retire. The result secured Thanusaa the Women’s title and completed another memorable week for Malaysian squash, with Siow Yee Xian also claiming the men’s championship.
Reflecting on her victory, Thanusaa expressed her satisfaction with her performances throughout the tournament. “This week was way better than I expected. I showed up in every match, fighting for every point.”

Her latest triumph adds to an already successful 2026 campaign, having previously won the T-Force Pro Challenger Series in Philadelphia, United States, and the WA Open International in Australia. The three PSA titles within a single year highlight her growing consistency and establish her as one of Malaysia’s rising squash talents on the international circuit.

After overcoming a lengthy injury setback that affected her world ranking, Thanusaa has worked her way back with a string of strong performances.
