Malaysia’s National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2026 celebrations will officially begin with a launch ceremony on July 19, 2026 at the Institut Latihan Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia Sultan Azlan Shah (ILKKM SAS) in Perak. The event, starting at 10 am, marks the commencement of this year’s National Month celebrations and encourages Malaysians to proudly fly the Jalur Gemilang in conjunction with the nation’s independence celebrations.
‘Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati’ Chosen as 2026 Theme
This year’s National Day and Malaysia Day 2026 (HKHM2026) celebrations will carry the theme “Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati”, while the Malaysia MADANI logo will continue to serve as the official logo through next year.
The theme reflects the government’s aspiration to build a progressive, inclusive and prosperous nation guided by the Malaysia MADANI framework. It also emphasises justice, humanity and public welfare, ensuring that the nation’s development and prosperity are enjoyed fairly by all Malaysians.
National Day and Malaysia Day Celebrations
Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil previously announced that the National Day celebration on Aug 3, 2026, will take place at Dataran Putrajaya on a modest yet lively scale. Meanwhile, the Malaysia Day celebration on Sept 16, 2026 will be held in Sarawak, continuing the tradition of celebrating the occasion across different regions of the country.
Nationwide Programmes to Foster Patriotism
To further enliven the HKHM2026 celebrations, the government has planned seven supporting programmes and patriotic initiatives across the country.
These include Kembara Bahasa HKHM, Quran Hour, Ambang Merdeka, Merdeka Countdown, RIUH Merdeka, and the National Statesmen Commemoration Ceremony, alongside the nationwide Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign aimed at strengthening patriotism among Malaysians.
The ceremony will be broadcast live on Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), BERNAMA TV, and via Facebook Live on the Merdeka360, Ministry of Communications and Department of Information Malaysia platforms, allowing Malaysians nationwide to take part in the occasion.
