An Indian-origin finance professional, Lakshmanan Meyyappan, has made his mark on the global stage after being recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s youngest male Chartered Accountant, achieving the feat at just 16 years old.
Born and raised in Dubai, Lakshmanan completed his professional accounting qualification at the age of 16 years old on June 30, 2021.
His remarkable achievement has since gained attention as an inspiring example of how young Indians and those from the wider Indian community are making their mark in professional fields around the world.
A Remarkable Achievement at Just 16
Lakshmanan began his journey into accounting during the COVID-19 pandemic after completing his Class 10 examinations. He went on to pursue the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification and completed it in around a year.

His achievement was later recognised by Guinness World Records, placing his name among record holders from around the world. While the Guinness title refers to him as the youngest male Chartered Accountant, it is important to note that Lakshmanan qualified through the ACCA pathway, rather than India’s Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) CA programme.
From Young Record Holder to Finance Professional
Lakshmanan’s achievements did not end with his Guinness World Record. He went on to pursue further professional qualifications, including the CFA charter, while also continuing his studies in finance.
Today, he is building his career in Dubai’s financial sector, working in areas including investment research and market analysis. His journey highlights how early exposure to education, determination and a strong interest in finance can open doors to opportunities on an international platform.

Beyond his professional interests, Lakshmanan also has a creative side and enjoys designing and building watches.
An Inspiration for the Indian Community
Lakshmanan’s story serves as an inspiring reminder that age does not necessarily have to determine how far a young person can go. His achievement at 16, followed by his continued pursuit of education and professional development, has made his journey particularly noteworthy for young members of the Indian community.
From achieving a global record as a teenager to establishing himself in the finance industry, Lakshmanan continues to demonstrate how dedication and ambition can take young talent onto the world stage.
