The High Commission of Malaysia in Singapore is prepared to assist Malaysians who are facing trouble returning to the country under the current lockdown, says Johor Health and Environment Committee chairman R. Vidyananthan.

According to him, the state government is aware there are some Malaysians stranded in Singapore who are facing challenges in returning home.

“In April, the High Commission of Malaysia in Singapore and the Immigration Department had provided transport to some 50 Malaysians back into the country.

“The passengers include pregnant women, senior citizens, children and the disabled,” he said in a statement here on Sunday.

He added that the government’s focus now is to assist Malaysians in Singapore and other countries who are facing troubles without transportation.

“Frontliners and the agencies involved have also taken extra tasks to assist those in need. This includes arranging for the return of Malaysians in Singapore to attend the funeral of family members in Malaysia while also following strict standard operating procedures (SOPs),” he said.

He said there were also cases where frontliners had assisted in sending Malaysians back for funerals in the northern region of the peninsular.
