The fear and anxiety of the residents of KL, Selangor, Putrajaya and Sabah grows as they wait patiently on the status of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) hoping this ordeal would not be extended again!

The Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) for the 3 districts in the Peninsular, started on the 14th of October 2020 and was scheduled to end on 27th of October 2020. Whereas for Sabah it started on 13th of October 2020 and was scheduled to end on 26th of October 2020.

The current COVID-19 cases today in Malaysia stands at 629 with 6 deaths. Sadly, there has been a notable increase in the number of cases with a reduce in number of cases cured.

Hence, according to medical sources, it very much looks like the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) might be extended if the number of cases does not show a significant amount of decrease over the next two weeks span of time.

Dr Awang Bulgiba Awang Mahmud, a council member for the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia, stated that;

“Two weeks is too short to see a real downtrend as current infections may not be seen for a week or so, adding that the current situation is “a little different” from what Malaysians faced during the first Movement Control Order (MCO)”

Dr Subramaniam Muniandy, president of the Malaysian Medical Association, said the current restrictions in Klang Valley were quite remarkable seeing this has been a good motion in monitoring the situation.

However, he added that if there is no significant improvement in the number of cases in two weeks, the public could definitely foresee an extension to the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO)

The higher officials are very much concerned on the rates of the spiking cases of COVID-19. They have expressed that their utmost aim currently is to reduce the cases efficiently to prevent a full lockdown from being imposed.

Here is the breakdown of the outbreaks from each state in the country according to the Ministry of Health’s official twitter handle;

71 dari kluster-kluster sedia ada

In addition to the escalating number of cases, Taiping, Perak has also been marked as red zone due today with high number of COVID-19 cases and one village in Kedah has just been ordered to be under immediate Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) due to continuous number of outbreaks reaching more than 40 cases per day.

The high surge of COVID-19 cases has definitely put the country in PalPable state , forcing the Government officials to take all proactive measures in curbing the COVID-19 outbreak.

What is your take in this? Should the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) be extended? Share your thoughts with us in the comment section below.
