There’s an art to pulling off a good cover song. It’s safe to say almost everyone enjoys a good cover. It’s something magical about hearing a popular and traditional song performed in a whole different and unique way. Having said that, I believe it is beyond time for us to give credit to all of the brilliant cover songs that force us to reconsider our musical choices.
Check out Part 3 of cover songs that outdid the original versions:
Arunan Sathiyaseelan – arunan_official
Arunan’s notable cover of Arjit Singh’s Tum Hi Ho song is as close as it can get to any masterpiece. He creates a magical cover of the hit song and has one of the most soulful voices that makes you want to keep on listening to him sing!

Johnathan Raj – official_johnathanraj
Raagangal pathinaaru by Johnathan with a downtempo vibe that breathes new life into it and reminds the listeners of how amazing it has always been. His gentle, exquisite voice really brings the verses to life and gives the song a sense of dread. It’s a fantastic reinterpretation of a song I felt I’d never heard before. Composed by M. S. Vishwanathan, the song was originally sung by S. P. Balasubrahmanyam from the movie Thillu Mullu.
Pratheban Ganesh – pratheban_
Nobody gave more soul to Yuvan’s song than Pratheban on his cover of Pogathey Pogathey from the film Deepavali. His slow-groove take for this cover version made it hard to guess which was the original and which was the cover song.

Saktivael Mahalingam – m.shakti97
A great taste in cover songs has always been a trademark for Saktivael, who has done multiple cover songs but Idhu Enna Maayam has grabbed my attention. The talented musician makes a pretty great groove out of it.
Pavi Ravi De’Archer – archer_boy09
It was a real kick to hear Pavi’s voice for Venpa hit song Oru Murai. This song’s fervour has just been cranked to a whole new level. Pavi gave the song new life yet again when he did a cover version with all his soulful goodness.

William Sagayaraj – willieboyentertainment
It’s difficult to envision this song any other way after hearing this cover. William gives “Nee Enthan Anbe”an emotional dimension that you didn’t even know was possible. Obviously, the original version is fantastic, but William’s vocals add a layer of ethereal charm that will make your heart melt—in a good way.
