With the ongoing pandemic, organisations taking care of vulnerable communities struggling to stay viable without financial aid has been an extra challenging pursuit. Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Taman Megah and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Amal Warga Emas Sejati Kuala Lumpur dan Selangor have developed a COVID-19 cluster.

Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Taman Megah

A total number of 14 children within the ages of five to sixteen were confirmed to be COVID-19 positive, and currently all of them are undergoing their quarantine period at a multipurpose hall. Their diagnosis came as a shock after their caretakers failed to detect the virus.

According to a volunteer, the centre is currently seeking contributions for meals, vitamins, and supplements such as vitamin C, panadol, and paracetamol syrup for the children who have been confined to the quarantine centre.

The late S.K Manikumar S. Kanan, who was a physically challenged man established the centre with the aim of providing a safe environment for ‘Special’ children. The founder devoted his entire life to fulfilling his vision until he was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident. Even on his last journey, he was out collecting funds for these children. His demise came as a huge loss, and till date his contributions are acknowledged by society.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic making the crucial task of helping children get their necessary items and into safe homes even harder, let’s continue extending a helping hand by chipping in a small amount of donation even in the hardest and most intense of times.

Those who would like to do their part in becoming a great blessing to these kids, kindly do it HERE!

Pertubuhan Kebajikan Amal Warga Emas Sejati Kuala Lumpur dan Selangor

The outbreak at the children’s home came merely days after the Pertubuhan Kebajikan Amal Warga Emas Sejati Kuala Lumpur dan Selangor, better known as Fu Pin Handicap Centre was exposed to the virus in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur.

According to the centre’s director, the elderly folks have since recovered and all are fully vaccinated. However, they are facing a shortage of manpower and funds for items such as disposable gloves, disinfection spray, and vitamin supplements which they have been consuming daily.

Good samaritans who would like to contribute, your donations can be sent to the organisation’s Ambank account (8881041941687), with bank receipts sent to fp.medicare.center@gmail.com.

‘Heal the world, make it a better place,’ Michael Jackson’s famous lyrical sentence rings a bell every now and then. While you can’t go out and make a difference in the world at the present moment, you can certainly make an impact in your own community by touching lives that need it the most.
