Suriya Is All Set For The New Year

Suriya Sivakumar may have had a relatively quiet 2018, as he was focusing on his film production and distribution company, 2D Entertainment.

2019 looks to be the year for the actor, and he is currently finishing up filming two blockbusters that are set to release this year. Nandha Gopalan Kumaran (NGK) is an upcoming Tamil language political thriller film written and directed by Selvaraghavan. This will be Suriya’s first time working with the director. He will star alongside Sai Pallavi, Rakul Preet Singh as well as Mansur Ali Khan and Sampath.

Reports have emerged that Surya’s next film will be Kaapaan. The filmmakers were pretty creative with choosing the title. Director K.V. Anand conducted a poll on Twitter asking fans to vote for one of the three titles he had in mind for Suriya’s upcoming flick. The options were Uyirka, Meetpaan and Kaapaan. Uyirka was the winning title, but the director lacked confidence in the people, and decided to go with Kaapaan.

Kaapaan is an action thriller and Suriya will be playing a commando alongside Malayalam veteran actor Mohanlal. Kaapaan will also feature Sayyesha, Arya and Boman Irani. The film has music by Harris Jayaraj. The first look posters have been released and the actor certainly looks like a protector. Fans will have to wait till the end of 2019 for Kaapaan, as shooting will only begin in mid January.
