Indeed a great initiative with the hope that this initiative will be well-managed by the team.

Taking into account of our Tamil school education, the National Unity Ministry through the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (MITRA), has allocated a grant of about RM13.07 million to provide preschool education to 5,164 Indian children aged between (4 to 6) from the B40 group, Vanakam Malaysia reported.

According to National Unity Minister, Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique, the grant covered the costs of education fees for the 2022–2023 school session, effectively from March 2022 to February 2023. Besides that, the provision of books and worksheets, a starter kit comprising uniforms and stationery; as well as subsidies for the preparation of breakfast for the B40 children also will be included in the grant.

A total number of 214 preschools in Kedah, Penang, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, and Kuala Lumpur received the grant through five organisations.

“This initiative can ease the financial burden of parents in facing the rising cost of living,” she said.

Speaking on the purpose of allocation, Datuk Halimah has mentioned that the special aid has been initiated to make sure all the B40 Indian children will be having the opportunity to attend preschools as preparation to enter Year One next year.
