While celebrating its rapid comeback as all airlines are flying sky high once again, AirAsia launched five million FREE seats big sale on the 19th of September to mark the milestone proving as always, AirAsia is Asia’s low fare leader, enabling everyone to fly.

For travel between 1st January and 28th October 2023, bargain hunters have until September 25th to take advantage of great airfare discounts across ASEAN and beyond. In this light, AirAsia achieves a significant milestone by selling an astounding 500,000 seats on both short- and long-haul flights in just 48 hours.

After almost three years of lockdowns and travel restrictions, the incredible record-breaking sale marked the greatest number of seats sold daily since the beginning of COVID-19 and the travel sector.

According to the Chief Executive Officer, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said the record-breaking sale that has been achieved through traditional media, surpassed the airline’s pre-Covid daily sales record of 230,000 in January 2020.

“I am thrilled that our support of traditional media that has always been there in AirAsia resulted in record-breaking daily sales. It was emotional for me to see today’s achievement, having gone through almost three years of hellish times to see us surpass our pre-COVID record daily sales record of 230,000 in January 2020,” Tony expressed.

“I want to thank my unsung heroes in the commercial, branding and communications department for their constant and unwavering support and the can-do attitude to bring us back to our previous heights,” he remarked.

In a statement, he said value seekers have been snapping up free seats by the minute to their favourite short-haul destinations, a few most visited tourist spots in Malaysia with the likes of Langkawi, Penang and Kota Kinabalu.
