Tourism Malaysia continues to create a stronger presence in the Indian market through the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) Roadshow in Nashik and Sambhajinagar, from 7th July 2026 to 9th July 2026.
The roadshow is part of Tourism Malaysia’s efforts to build stronger relationships with travel trade partners in India and introduce more travellers to Malaysia’s tourism attractions, unique experiences, and upcoming events under the VM2026 campaign.
Building Stronger Tourism Partnerships
The roadshow gives a platform for travel trade partners from Maharashtra to meet directly with Malaysian tourism industry representatives. It also allows both sides to strengthen business relationships and explore new opportunities to work together.
Through the initiative, Malaysia highlights the wide range of travel experiences that are accessible, offer good value, and meet the interest of Indian travellers. The roadshow is guided by Haryanty Abu Bakar, Director of Tourism Malaysian Mumbai. The 11th-member Malaysian delegation includes representatives from travel agencies, airlines, and tourism product operators.

Haryanty said India is still one of Malaysia’s important tourism markets, while Maharashtra has shown strong potential in outbound travel.
She added that the roadshow is to build closer partnerships with travel industry partners in Nashik and Sambhajinagar, two tier-two cities in Maharashtra, while promoting Malaysia’s tourism experiences during the ongoing VM2026 campaign.
Indian Visitor Arrivals Continues to Grow
India continues to play a important role in Malaysia’s tourism industry. Last year (2025), Malaysia had 1.5 million visitors from India, which is a increase of 14.6 per cent compared to 1.3 million visitors in 2024. It then continued positively in 2026, with more than 600,000 Indian visitors travelling to Malaysia from January to May.
Air connectivity is one of the biggest support for this growth. Airlines like Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Batik Air, and IndiGo connects Malaysia to 11 cities in India, such as Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Chenna, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Trivandrum, and many more.

As of now, the India-Malaysia route has more than 200 direct flights every week. Between Mumbai and Kuala Lumpur alone, Malaysia Airlines and Batik Air operate a 17 direct flights weekly, making Malaysia more accessible to travellers from Maharashtra.
Tourism Malaysia will still continue to work closely with Indian travel partners, airlines, media, and other stakeholders to strengthen it’s presence in the market. Through these partnerships, the VM2026 campaign is to attract sustainable visitor growth while creating a memorable travel experiences and opportunity for India and Malaysia.
