Although Malaysia is home to thousands of magnificent Amman temples, the writer feels that these Amman temples around Klang Valley should be on your must-visit list. 

As we are on the third day of Navratri, we have curated a list for you, and scroll down to have a look at temples that you could head to during this auspicious day.

Sri Mahamariamman Devastanam Temple, Kuala Lumpur

Founded by K. Thamboosamy Pillai in 1873, this temple was initially used as a private shrine by the Pillai family. Known as the oldest temple of Goddess Mariamman, the manifestation of Goddess Parvati and the oldest Hindu temple in the city.

Om Sri Maha Athi Nageswary Amman

The multi-coloured eight-tiered gopuram is just unique and powerful in its own way.

Sri Agilandeswary Amman Temple

Maha Mariamman Alayam, Shah Alam

According to Selangor Hindus, the uniqueness of this temple is the presence of Ganga Amman, who is rarely found in Hindu temples of Malaysia. Goddess Gangga Amman originates from the holy Ganges River. Interestingly, the sanctum sanctorum for Gangga Amman is always flowing with water, thereby denoting her ‘sakthi’.
