While waiting for the cue to begin the show, Hindra Bose leapt onto the stage and plunged into a witty sitcom. After mingling with the audience for a good 15 minutes, Hindra who will be debuting as an actor in a movie aptly titled ‘Simple Manusan’, welcomes the opening act of the day, Kavin Jay. The 43-year-old comedian sets up an entertaining act with his Franch Oil and Banana Leaf atrocities comedies. It was a great starter before the main meal.

But before delving deeper into the main characters of the night, let’s get to know what CROWD WORK means.
Crowd work is a type of improvisation comedy by the comedian. The comedian interacts with the crowd and comes up with jokes on the spot based on the material provided by the audience. Well, this is the concept that this pair has implemented in this entire 2-hour-long act.
Without any trepidation of being first-timers in a new country, Abishek Kumar and Nirmal Pillai darted with a fleeting gig, asking who is going to start off the show.
The 25-year-old, Nirmal Pillai took the baton and ran the first half of the show. Upon stepping on the stage, he kicked off by greeting the audience. He starts conversing with the audience with his comedic humour. One of the best picks of the audience during his time was the DOCTOR. The entire PG-18 content conversation between them both cracks up the entire hall.
Oozing full-on pzazz, the girl’s heartthrobber Abishek Kumar came in with an on-spot catch. The eagle-eyed man spotted a young boy who were literally taking over the videographer’s job, with that he started up his gig. He seems to had the best time by enthusiastically interacting with the audience with on time jokes.
Later, this twinnies together took over the stage cracking the audience up with their synchronized comedies and savvy humours. They literally looked like a NEWLYWEDED couple who are in their honeymoon phase, teasing each other while having the best chemistry on stage.
Did LOL 2.0 – crowd work Malaysia with Abishek Kumar and Nirmal Pillai work out?
It takes a lot of work to get up on stage and entertain a crowd without a script, however that’s what makes it interesting. Taking this as an experimental crowd work show, the writer personally thinks that Abishek and Nirmal have done a pretty good job. They have kept the audience hooked with their witty jokes and humours till the end. However, the act could have been a bit longer.
Thank you for the wonderful and entertaining show Abishek & Nirmal!
Huge credit to Number Twenty One Media (NTOM) and PU4LYF Entertainment’s team for yet another successful event. We can’t wait to see your forthcoming project!
