Tamil hip hop music is set to take centre stage this year in Malaysia!
Spearheaded by FourOne6, Naamastay Hip Hop returns this year with a fresh vibe, announcing a mega lineup of artists featuring 36 vibrant homegrown talents. Oh well, there are more artist to be announced soon. This year Naamastay Hip Hop features YOGI B AND NATCHATRA (DR BURN, EMCEE JESZ), BALAN KASH, K TOWN CLAN, SHEEZAY, ARVIND RAJ, MC SYZE, ARUNBOlI, HARVINTH SKIN, SLY SQUAD, THE INC, MUSIC KITCHEN, AATHITIYANZ, JINGGI GANG, SICARIOS, ORGA, THARAGAI, MAESTRO, OG BANGERZ, SIA SAARA, HAYROLD JAY AND AMG, TEDDY ROSH, YIPOHBOI, ELCFER, DOPE’EH, PRAYVEN, NAREN ZAC, DHEYRANN, PRHYME KID, DJ NEXTO, DJ JAY, DJ SLICK VICK, DJ PRI2, REALONES & HINDRA BOSE.
Adding to the excitement, the Ministry of Communications and Digital together with the government’s creative arm, MyCreative Ventures Sdn. Bhd have joined hands in support of this upcoming magnum opus hip-hop concert.
During the press conference which was held at The Bee, Publika today – 12th April 2023, the brain behind this big show, the Managing Director of FourOne6, Sri Janarthanan Nair emphasized that Naamastay Hip Hop is going to be different from any other concert you’ve attended, bringing great people, great vibes, and great music together to represent and celebrate the originality and greatness of homegrown hip hop,”
He also added that Naamastay Hip Hop is targeted to be an incredible space for music lovers to discover Malaysian Tamil hip-hop talents that our community has to offer.
Revealing more about this upcoming concert, Janarthanan said “We have about five to six headliners, who will perform in a span of 25 to 30 minutes per act. Also, we have tiers of artist who will be having their designated time as some of the budding artist have just released their current singles.”
When asked by Varnam Malaysia on plans to integrate Naamastay Hip Hop into a multi-racial Malaysian concert, Janarthanan quoted, “We would love to add in more artists from different races and different languages to our show, but for this round, let’s keep it this way first. Next year, when we get bigger than this, then we can bring in the Malay and Chinese rappers.” noting that they have plans for it.
In addition, Balan Kash revealed that he will be performing his new track, called-KACHERI ARAMBHAM. It sounds like another banger track to rule our playlist.
The organisers have also arranged for a carnival vibes kind off feel whereby there will be performances, merchandise booths, interactive photo booths, activation spaces and games. So block your dates !
