Mohan Chinnasamy has received his very first international accolade by being awarded at the Desam Media International Icon Awards 2023 for his exceptional work as a Malay language newsreader. The event, which took place at the Le Royal Meridian in Chennai, saw many significant media personalities attend and be bestowed with many awards. Mohan had received his award at the hands of Nakkheeran Gopal, a renowned journalist from Tamil Nadu.
“I thank everyone; this is my first international award for the Best Malay Language Newsreader (non-malay). I feel very proud, as this is my first ever international award, and to receive it in India is truly an honour. For my long-term hard work, I see this as a blessing. Thank you so much.”

This is the first ever award that the Indian government has given to RTM. A total of 115 categories of prizes were given to both Malaysian and Indian media professionals at the Desam Media International Icon Awards 2023. The event was also attended by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Mu. Ka. Stalin, and another minister, P. Saminathan.
