Following the Christmas festivities yesterday, a substantial number of individuals embarked on a weekend retreat from Saturday to Monday, returning to their hometowns for Christmas celebration and holidays. Presently, there are reports of congestion and sluggish movement on various main highways this evening, as urban residents resume work after the extended Christmas break.

As of 5pm, a representative from the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) indicated that traffic congestion had been observed after the Sungai Besi Toll Plaza, particularly in the direction leading toward the city center. According to Bernama, he said, “At the Jalan Duta Toll Plaza, traffic flow is slow northbound as well as in both directions at the Sungai Besi Toll Plaza due to a higher volume of vehicles.”

Aa per latest update, there is also a slow flow of traffic heading northbound from Pedas/Linggi to Port Dickson (North) and from Slim River to Sungkai. Meanwhile, traffic heading to Southbound from Sg. Perak R&R to Ipoh(U), Nilai to Seremban, Sungai Besi to Bangi are also slow.
