The renowned Sri Marathandavar Temple, situated in Maran, announced a temporary closure effective January 8, 2024, due to severe flooding in the surrounding areas. The temple was not spared either; it succumbed to the rising floodwaters along with the surrounding areas. Notably, the temple underwent refurbishment and commemorated its Kumbabhishegam last year.

After the floodwaters receded, the temple underwent a thorough cleaning process and has now reopened its doors to devotees. The latest announcement regarding the temple’s reopening was made by the management yesterday through their official Facebook post. As of yesterday, devotees are once again welcome to visit the sacred site.

The management also shared several pictures documenting the temple’s cleaning process. It is heartening to see that there wasn’t significant damage to the recently refurbished temple. Many individuals collaborated to contribute to the cleaning efforts.

The public expressed gratitude in the comments of the post towards those who participated in the cleaning and assistance for the temple’s reopening. They were glad that the temple has been reopened. With the dedicated efforts of many individuals, including the temple committee and local residents, the Sri Marathandavar Temple has successfully weathered the challenges posed by the recent flood. The cleaning process has been diligently carried out, and the temple now stands fully restored and ready to welcome visitors.
