The Malaysian Telugu Association (TAM) recently commemorated its 68th anniversary with a grand celebration at the Subang 2 Campus of Help University. The event was not only a reflection of the association’s rich history but also a testament to the enduring spirit and remarkable contributions of the Telugu community to Malaysia’s cultural tapestry.
Central to the festivities was the launch of the book titled “Malaysian Telugus: Untold Stories of Andhra Pioneers,” authored by Dr. Ramanan Malini. This publication delves into the untold narratives, struggles, triumphs, and invaluable legacies that have shaped the collective identity of the Telugu community in Malaysia. Through meticulous research and documentation, the book immortalizes the stories of the forefathers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, preserving the essence of their culture for generations to come.
The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including YB Senator Ms. Saraswathi Kandasamy, Deputy Minister of National Unity; HE Shri BN Reddy, High Commissioner of India; and HE Shri J. Gobhurdun, High Commissioner of Mauritius, among others. Their presence underscored the significance of the occasion and highlighted the strong bonds between Malaysia and the Telugu community.
In her address, YB Senator Ms. Saraswathi Kandasamy emphasized the importance of unity and cultural preservation. She commended the efforts of TAM in promoting education, preserving cultural heritage, and serving the community with unwavering dedication.
