The kumbabhishekam ceremony was presided over by priest K. Sathasivam. At 10am, the ceremonial pouring of consecrated water, known as kumbabhishekam, was performed with utmost devotion for the deities housed in the temple, including Om Sri Veeramuthu Maha Kaliamman, Sri Maha Ganapathi, Sri Balasubramaniyar, and all other divine idols present.

The first kumbabhishekam of this venerable 63-year-old temple took place on May 14, 1978. Following this auspicious event, a remarkable spectacle unfolded in 1980 when the kumkum cascading like a waterfall from Amman’s forehead captivated global attention. In 1981, Amman here was bestowed with the revered name “Kungumangi”.

The temple president, Mr. S. Letchumanan, stated, “People have directly witnessed various miracles from the inception of this temple until today. Consequently, not only during the festival season but also on regular days, thousands of devotees from across the country visit the temple. Therefore, we are developing the temple to be a fully-equipped facility, enhancing all its amenities. The recent renovation incurred a cost of one million ringgit, and we sincerely appreciate the ongoing support of the devotees towards the temple.”

Members of the Perak State Executive Council, A. Sivanesan, and Buntong Assembly Member M. Thulsi, graced the kumbabhishekam ceremony with their special presence, adding significance to the occasion. During the ceremony, Sivanesan announced his generous donation of RM80,000, contributing to the successful execution of the temple’s kumbabhishekam ceremony, which is currently operating in an exemplary manner. Additionally, he also launched a special edition magazine dedicated to the kumbabhishekam event on this occasion.

The celebration of the Kumbabhishekam was not merely a local affair; it resonated as a national event, drawing pilgrims and enthusiasts who sought to partake in the consecration rituals. The vibrant and festive atmosphere surrounding the ceremony reflected not only the local community’s deep-rooted devotion but also the temple’s broader appeal as a symbol of cultural pride and spiritual sanctity.
