Dhanush’s highly anticipated Hollywood debut will release on the 21st of June. The actor announced on social media that his French-English film, The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir, will release in a month’s time. The film is said to be a comedy.
The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir will also be dubbed and released in Tamil under the title Pakkiri.
Dhanush took to Twitter to announced the release of the film, He tweeted, “Delighted to share with all of you that my first International Film #TheExtraordinaryJourneyOfTheFakir is releasing in India, United States, Canada, UK, Singapore, Malaysia, Bangladesh and Nepal on the 21st of June. Thrilled to share this very special journey with all my fans.”

The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir is based on a novel by Romain Puertolas titled The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir Who Got Trapped in an Ikea Wardrobe. Dhanush will be playing the role of Ajatashatru “Aja” Lavash Patel, a Mumbai-based street magician who tricks people into believing that he has supernatural powers and convinces them to fund his trip to Paris.
The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir will also feature Bérénice Bejo, Erin Moriarty, Barkhad Abdi and Gérard Jugnot. The film was shot extensively in India, France, Italy, and Libya.
The film’s director Ken Scott spoke about his experience working with Dhanush in an interview, “When I worked with Dhanush, I discovered a great actor and an amazing personality. It was a great experience during the Paris premieres and the press screenings to realise that the French audience and media felt the same about him and experienced the same delight and sense of wonder watching Dhanush in our film.”
The film premiered on May 30 last year in France and received positive reviews.
The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir received a standing ovation after its premiere in France. We know for a fact that the response in Tamil Nadu will be way more than a measly standing ovation.
