The “35 years of Deva” concert that took place last Saturday, 4th May at the Bukit Jalil National stadium was a far cry from last years show, featuring the musical genius of Thenisai Thendral Deva. The show which was originally scheduled for the 2nd of March 2024 was postponed to the 4th of May 2024, and was marketed as a musical festival in celebration of his 35 years in the film industry. Disgruntled concert goers, who had paid between RM100 to RM999 to attend this year’s show were quick to take to the organizers Instagram page to make their feelings known.
While it is almost impossible to ensure a glitch free show, commentators were generally appalled with just how bad the sound system was during this show – a glitch that was apparently never corrected throughout the entire show.
Pity Deva sir and the rest singer!!! You made the worst sound system, very bad coordination!!! We can’t hear people sing!!! Total nonsense arrangement, so stupid!!! Please do not organise if you cannot!!!
Hello Horizonconnect come on la. We are paying for the entertainer the whole event to get good feelings .All spoiled because of the connection and MiC setting. You all can hear or not when the singer sings???.
Next on the sound systems, did you all even test it out before the concert? Worst still is the mic. A mic is not functioning during a concert? And the best part, despite knowing the damn mic n sound system is not functioning well, it went on. Its more of a disgrace that such a music legend had to deliver a poor performance due to the Organizers.
Worst concert I’ve ever attended!! Sound system out!!! Full of technical errors!!! More of talking than singing!!! Totally not worth!!! Disappointing!!!
My family and I left the concert in the middle because the experience was terrible. The sequence of the songs wasn’t well planned, and the sound system was horrible! I was truly disappointed and felt that the event was a waste of time and money.
There was also a general lack of direction for the entire show, from the collection of wristband to the seating zones, lack of proper ventilation with the current heatwave as well as overpriced food and beverages at the event venue.
There was no direction on where to collect the wristbands. No direction to the zones. The crew was not even able to direct the crowd to their respective zones.your promo mentioned that the gate will open at 3.00pm, which it did not.your promo said live DJ will start at 4.00pm, which did not.Audiences were left hanging there without knowing when its gonna start.
One word; PATHETIC! Zero ventilation, awful sound system, appalling song choices, overpriced food & beverages. We’ve all paid for the show, so treat your customers appropriately. Major turn off 👎🏼
The mics kept cutting off…pity the singers. And no fans this year? Super hot for people who came in early and had to sit thru for hours! Please explore ventilation ideas for your next concert. We came all the way from Singapore and left disappointed.

The comparison with last years show did not end there, and the majority of comments centered around how good last year’s show by Pocket Play and City Productions was. We have to agree.

We genuinely feel sorry for those who missed last years show, and were disappointed with this years offering. Let’s hope the next show featuring Thenisai Thendral Deva will be a much better organised offering, fit for the status of this musical legend.
