On 23rd June 2024, Bollywood Actress Sonakshi Sinha married to her long time love Zaheer Iqbal. Their wedding was a celebration of love, heritage and exquisite fashion. The actress’s choice of wedding sarees beautifully reflected her personal style and deep connection to family traditions.

The Wedding: Ivory Chikankari Saree

Sonakshi’s wedding began with an intimate ceremony at her home. For this special occasion, she chose a vintage ivory chikankari saree inspired by her mother Poonam Sinha’s wedding saree. It is said that Sonakshi’s saree is her mother’s. However, the colored picture of Poonam Sinha’s wedding, she wore an light pink saree. The saree of Poonam is over 44 years old and held sentimental value added a touch of heritage to the ceremony. Sonakshi adorned the saree with her mother’s vintage jewellery, white flowers in her hair and a matching ivory blouse. The simplicity and elegance of this look were a perfect representation of the actress’s deep-rooted respect for family traditions .

The Reception: A Red Banarasi Wonder

Following the civil ceremony, Sonakshi hosted a reception where she donned a stunning red Banarasi silk saree from Raw Mango. This saree, priced at Rs 79,800, featured the ‘chaand buta’ (crescent moon) motif and a heavily weaved golden zari border.

Her choice of a red saree echoed the rich cultural significance of the colour in Indian weddings, symbolizing prosperity and auspiciousness.

The Post-Reception Look: Elegance in Red

For the post-reception party, Sonakshi chose a heavily embroidered red anarkali suit by Anita Dongre. This outfit, named ‘Into the wilderness zardozi & cord silk kurta set’, is priced at Rs 2.55 lakh, making it the most expensive attire she wore during her wedding festivities.
