Shayrissa Steven, an 11-year-old from Malacca, achieved the title of 1st runner-up at the Teen Tourism Ambassador International 2024 competition held in Kathmandu, Nepal, from June 16th to June 23rd, 2024. Currently a student at SJK (C) Poh Lan Tangga Batu, Shayrissa has harbored a strong interest in modeling since the age of 5, participating in numerous competitions over the years.
Previously, Shayrissa has achieved notable victories such as winning the Kids Saree Queen Melaka 2023, Kids Icon 2023, and Miss Junior Kids 2023 titles, among many others. At the Teen Tourism Ambassador International 2024 competition, which featured 38 contestants from 16 countries, Shayrissa represented Malaysia as the sole participant and secured the position of first runner-up. She was also honoured with the ‘Most Talent’ award during the competition. Additionally, Shayrissa’s parents were recognized as the ‘Best Parents’ in the event.
Shayrissa dedicated extensive time and effort to prepare for the competition. Despite facing challenges such as adjusting to the climate and meals in Kathmandu, she remained focused and committed to her preparation. Her perseverance and determination paid off, enabling her to secure the position of first runner-up. Shayrissa’s ability to overcome these obstacles and maintain her performance exemplifies her resilience and dedication to her passion for modeling.
Shayrissa’s mom mentioned that Shayrissa was very anxious during the results announcement. When her name was announced as the first runner-up, she burst into happy tears.
“We are incredibly proud of our daughter. I am even happier now witnessing her success than I was at the moment of her birth. She has made us proud and brought honor to our country on a global stage. She has worked very hard for this, and I am delighted to see her efforts rewarded,” said Shayrissa’s mother.
