The tight-knit community in Kepong is mourning with the tragic loss of a beloved putu mayam trader, who passed away in a road accident earlier this week. His passing has left a significant void in the hearts of many who cherished his presence and the delectable South Indian delicacy he sold with such passion and dedication.

In an overwhelming outpouring of sadness, numerous posts in a Kepong community Facebook page have received an incredible amount of comments. Two touching images of the seller smiling as he sold putu mayam from his motorcycle have received over thousands of likes.

The people in the community shared their sentiments by remembering him as the most positive guy at the pasar and shared their condolences to his family. The sheer volume of comments, exceeding a thousand, reflect the community’s deep connection with the trader and their shared sorrow.

Amidst the mourning, concerns have been raised about the conditions that may have contributed to the tragic accident. A dashcam video circulating online revealed that the accident site was poorly lit, with inadequate street lighting. The video shows the trader’s motorcycle lying on the road, highlighting the dangers faced by motorists on dimly lit roads.

The lack of proper street lighting is a serious issue that has long been a concern for many residents in the area. Poor visibility at night not only endangers drivers but also pedestrians, making it difficult for everyone to navigate safely. This tragic accident has underscored the urgent need for improved infrastructure and better road safety measures.

Local authorities are being urged to take immediate action to install adequate street lighting and ensure regular maintenance of existing lights. The community hopes that by addressing these safety issues, similar tragedies can be prevented in the future, sparing other families the pain of losing a loved one.

The trader’s death has left a void in the community, as many lament the absence of his cheerful presence and the sweet treats he provided. His dedication and hard work were highlighted by many, who noted that he ran his stall from morning until night for 15 years, making putu mayam accessible and affordable for all.

As Kepong mourns, the heartfelt tributes and shared memories are a testament to the significant impact he had on the lives of those around him. The loss of this beloved trader serves as a poignant reminder of the need for community solidarity and the importance of advocating for safer public spaces. May he rest in peace, and may his family find solace in the outpouring of love and support from the community.

One of the user from the comments heartfelt message,

So sad to hear that he passed away this early morning in an accident. A well known & friendly & cheerful puttu mayam, vadai, curry puff seller in Kepong. He’s very hardworking & can be seen selling his goodies all over Kepong. He’ll be missed by all his customers from Kepong. Deepest & heartfelt condolences to his family.
May he RIP
