Again with the combo of Gautham Vasudevan Menon, Suriya and Harris Jayaraj Musical. Vaaranam Aayiram was released in 2008, where Suriya played dual roles, father and son. 3) Sillunu Oru Kadhal (2006)
Sillunu Oru Kadhal was directed and written by Krishna and music was composed by Isai Puyal AR Rahman. The film is one of the favorite films as it brought back the two beautiful couples Suriya and Jyothika back on silver screen. Along with Suriya and Jyothika, Bhumika Chawla played a key role in the film.
The film’s story revolves around Kundavai, a girl from a small village who gets married to Gautham. After years of being happily married with a daughter, Kundavai finds an old diary of Gautham and learns about his past love for Ishwarya.
4) Ghajini (2005)
Ghajini was written and directed by AR Muragadoss and music was composed by Harris Jayaraj. The film starred Suriya, Asin, Nayathara, Riyaz Khan and Pradeep Rawat.
The story revolves around Sanjay Ramasamy, who was once a rich businessman suffers from anterograde amnesia from a head injury caused by a gangster while attempting for save his lover Kalpana. He then takes revenge of the people who murdered Kalpana by using photographs and tattoos on his body to recover his memory.
5) Singam Series (2010, 2013, 2017)
The film Singam was written and directed by Hari and music composed by Devi Sri Prasad. The first part was released in 2010 and was a blockbuster hit. All three films, Anushka Shetty played the female lead. The movie then continued with the second and third part. All three was a commercial success.
The plot revolves around Durai Singam, an honest cop in a small town, tackles crime with unwavering determination. The series follows his adventures as he faces various gangsters. For the first film, Prakash Raj played the antagonist and the second was an International actor Danny Sapani. Whilst for the third part, Thaku Anoop Singh played the negative role.
6) Jai Bhim (2021)
Jai Bhim was written and directed by T.J Gnanavel and produced by Jyothika and Suriya. The film was released on 2021 Diwali and received universal acclaim for the story and performance. Suriya played the role of a lawyer and was based on a incident that happened in Cuddalore and the case was fought by Justice K Chandru an advocate and former judge in India. Suriya’s performance along with Manikandan and Lijomol Jose made the film even more powerful. The film was then named as the Best Tamil and Indian Film of 2021
The plot revolves around biased police officers and brutality against a community. Advocate Chandru, a bold lawyer, battles for justice after Rajakanu, an Irular tribal member goes missing while in the custody of police and is falsely accused of robbery.
7) Soorarai Pottru (2020)
Directed by Sudha Kongara, music composed by GV Prakash , Soorarai Pottru was a film inspired by the true story of G.R Gopinath, the founder of an Indian Low Cost flight Simplifly Deccan. Soorarai Pottru received critical acclaim and won multiple prestigious awards. Suriya received his National Award for Best Actor.
The story revolves around Maara, from a small village dreams to have his own low cost airline service. He then faces obstacles and challenges to pursue that dream. The film stars Aparna Balamurali, Paresh Rawal, Urvashi, Karunas and Mohan Babu.
