The STPM 2023 results revealed an increase in Malaysia’s national Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) to 2.84, up from 2.82 in 2022, according to Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Ekhwan Toriman, Chairman of the Malaysian Examinations Council (MPM). He noted that this marks the highest CGPA since the inception of the exam.

A total of 1,116 candidates, equivalent to 2.70 percent, achieved a perfect CGPA of 4.00, which is a decrease from 1,184 candidates in 2022. Among these achievers, 803 candidates (71.95 percent) hailed from the B40 category, as announced during the STPM 2023 Results Announcement Ceremony at MPM.

Regarding CGPA achievements, Mohd Ekhwan highlighted that 4,153 candidates (10.00 percent) attained a CGPA of 3.75 and above in STPM 2023. Moreover, 18,621 candidates (44.82 percent) achieved a CGPA of 3.00 and above, 24,428 candidates (58.79 percent) achieved a CGPA of 2.75 and above, and 37,428 candidates (90.08 percent) achieved a CGPA of 2.00 and above, showing improvements compared to the previous year.

With these improvements, it is anticipated that more STPM 2023 graduates will gain admission to public universities this year compared to those from STPM 2022. The number of candidates achieving 5A in all five subjects increased to 41, up from 38 in 2022, with 29 of these high achievers coming from the B40 category. However, the number of candidates achieving 4A slightly decreased from 1,158 in 2022 to 1,087 in 2023, a decline of 6.13 percent.

The percentage of STPM 2023 candidates who achieved full passes in five and four subjects increased slightly from 75.01 percent (31,280 candidates) in 2022 to 75.85 percent (31,516 candidates) in 2023. Across all 23 subjects offered in STPM 2023, the pass rate exceeded 60 percent at grade C and above.

Out of 41,548 candidates who took the examination, 99.93 percent (41,520 candidates) qualified for the STPM 2023 certificate, while only 0.07 percent (28 candidates) did not qualify. Malaysian Examinations Council also recognized 17 top STPM students nationally across different categories, awarding them cash prizes of RM1,000, plaques, and certificates. Additionally, an award was presented to the best Malaysian University English Test (MUET) student of 2023.

STPM 2023 results are accessible at respective schools and through various platforms such as Short Messaging Service (SMS) or the link http://stpm.mpm.edu.my/stpmK, where results slip can be retrieved from 11:30 AM today until 12 noon, July 30, 2024.
