Malaysia will begin its first ever restricted movement order due to a pandemic tomorrow thanks to the novel coronavirus Covid-19.

The country has activated its pandemic preparedness plan with a rapid RT-PCR (reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction) test on patients and contacts developed, used and distributed to several government hospitals and medical laboratories while stricter management protocols have been introduced.

Will all these measures be effective in stopping the spread of the virus? To shed some light on the grave issue that has infected over 150,000 people all over the world, Discovery Channel is set to air a new special, ‘Coronavirus: The Silent Killer’ tonight.

Speaking to industry experts and medical specialists, the documentary delves into the science behind the virus that has taken the world by storm. As the number of infected people climbs each day, viewers will be given an in-depth look at how the virus spreads and what different countries have done in response.

‘Coronavirus: The Silent Killer’ is the first of a series of virus-related shows that will air on Discovery Channel, taking a deep dive into COVID-19 and other infectious viruses such as SARS and AIDS.

Coronavirus: The Silent Killer premieres on 17 March, 10.50 pm on Discovery Channel (Astro Channel 551/ 571).
