Astro Celebrates National and Malaysia Day with ‘Inilah KITA’ Campaign

Tune in to Astro’s KITA Channel (CH100), Experience SYOK FEST KITA, Free Preview of 6 Channels, Participate in the Inilah Hero KITA Movement and more!

Astro is launching its ‘Inilah KITA’ campaign from 15 August to 16 September 2024, in conjunction with National Day and Malaysia Day. This campaign aims to celebrate unity in diversity by making a positive impact within our communities. The ‘Inilah KITA’ campaign features several exciting initiatives, such as the KITA Channel (CH100), a free preview of six channels, the campaign theme song “Inilah KITA” by various Malaysian artists, SYOK FEST KITA, the “Inilah Hero KITA” social movement, and more.

Euan Smith, Group Chief Executive Officer of Astro, stated, “We named this campaign ‘Inilah KITA’ to reflect the essence of Malaysians—diverse, united, and resilient. This year, our focus is to celebrate the best of ‘KITA,’ the spirit of togetherness in Malaysia’s multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, and multi-cultural landscape. At Astro, we are committed to delivering diverse and enriching content to every home, fostering a sense of community, and embracing the spirit of KITA. During this campaign, we invite everyone to watch our special KITA Channel, enjoy our campaign theme song, ‘Inilah KITA,’ join us at SYOK FEST KITA, take advantage of the free previews of six channels, and participate in the ‘Inilah Hero KITA’ social movement.”

As a homegrown Malaysian brand, Astro is showcasing the best of Malaysian stories and entertainment with the KITA Channel (CH100). From 15 August to 16 September, over 100 specially selected titles will be available on Astro, NJOI, and sooka. Additionally, Astro customers can enjoy a free preview of six channels from 30 August to 16 September. These channels include SHOWCASE (CH413), HITS MOVIES (CH401), tvN Movies (CH416), HITS NOW (CH702), Zee Cinema (CH251), and ABO Movies Thangathirai (CH241).

Customers can look forward to new and premiering titles on KITA Channel (CH100), including: 

  • ‘Lion Girl’ is a drama featuring Erysha Emyra as Sakina, a young woman whose deep passion for Lion Dance drives her to pursue a career as a lion dancer. The series explores her journey as she navigates challenges with family and friends, all while embodying themes of Malaysian resilience, cultural appreciation, and the pursuit of her dreams.
  • ‘Rombongan Makciks Ke Dataran Merdeka’ is a drama starring Rozita Che Wan, Mandy Chong, and Satthiya Kandi as three ‘makciks’ from Kampung Wahab Satu. Their journey to Dataran Merdeka to attend a Fire Brigade procession takes an unexpected and chaotic turn, testing their resilience and camaraderie. The drama highlights true Malaysian unity and perseverance through their adventurous experience.

  • ‘The Music Journey’ is a music program that features Malaysian artists Priscilla Abby, Firdhaus, 3P Caven, Uriah See, and RYOTA. They perform their unique renditions of cherished Malaysian songs at various iconic locations, celebrating Malaysia’s vibrant cultural heritage and musical diversity.

  • ‘Pasanga Season 2’, Malaysia’s most popular local Tamil series on Astro and the first Tamil series in the country to reach 100 episodes, is produced and led by Denes Kumar. The series highlights the significance of family bonds and the strength to overcome challenges as Malaysians.

  • ‘Oga & Friends’ is a new homegrown animation series from the creators of ‘Didi & Friends’. It follows the adventures of a group of animals living in the Malaysian jungle and emphasizes the importance of environmental conservation. This series supports Astro’s RimbaKita ESG initiative.

Customers can also anticipate exclusive episodes of ‘Family Feud Malaysia’ and a variety of engaging shows, including ‘Hantu Karipap’, ‘Terompak Sana Tertukar Sini’, ‘Call Me Handsome – Malaysia KITA’, and ‘Sofa Kentang Selebriti’. These programs offer a diverse range of entertainment, from thrilling ghost stories and comedic mishaps to captivating celebrity interviews and lively discussions. There’s something for everyone to enjoy!

‘Inilah KITA’ Celebrates Malaysian Unity and Local Talent

Malaysians can also eagerly anticipate the campaign theme song, ‘Inilah KITA’, which celebrates local talent and the spirit of unity among Malaysians. Performed by a diverse lineup of local artists, including Hael Husaini, Wani Kayrie, Daniel Fong, Joey Leong, Balan Kash, and Roshini, this song captures the essence of togetherness and national pride. ‘Inilah KITA’ will be available starting 15 August 2024 on all your favorite streaming platforms, offering an opportunity to enjoy and share in the celebration of Malaysian culture.

From 6 to 8 September, join us at Setia City Park Oval Lawn for SYOK FEST KITA, a vibrant celebration of Malaysian culture. Experience an exciting array of homegrown music featuring over 25 local artists, including Floor 88, Hattan, Misha Omar, Luqman Podolski, Zayn Nakal, Syamil, Bunga, Claudia Tan, Sya, Music Kitchen, Arvind Raj, Zen, Jie Ying, Elva, Daniel Wong, Maq Lai, Kaka Azraff, Zubir Khan, Ezra Kairo, K Town Clan, Sarah Suhairi, 53 Universe, DEF Jam Artist, and many more! On 6 September, don’t miss Astro Radio’s OR1 FM, where 13 radio stations in Malay, English, Chinese, and Tamil will come together for an exclusive outdoor broadcast, offering a unique Malaysian radio experience and engaging with the public live.

Malaysians are invited to participate in Astro’s ‘Inilah Hero KITA’ social movement, where the public can share stories of exemplary individuals who demonstrate qualities such as kindness, dedication, and positivity. Stories can be submitted in text, picture, or video format on social media using the hashtag #InilahKITA. Additionally, tune in to ‘Berita Terkini KITA’ for daily segments on Astro AWANI (CH501) at 5pm and KITA (CH100) at 8.30pm, where we showcase the inspiring stories of ‘Inilah Hero KITA’ individuals who make Malaysia a better place.
