One of the most significant Hindu festivals, Thaipusam, is just around the corner and will be celebrated on 11th February this year. Malaysians can witness the vibrant festivities through a live telecast on Astro Vinmeen (Ch 202) from 9th February, 8pm, until 11th February, 10pm via TV, Astro GO, On Demand, and Sooka.

This year’s theme, “Nandri Kantha” (Gratitude Resonates), brings an exciting first-time highlight—a live chariot procession alongside breathtaking visuals from renowned temples in Batu Caves, Georgetown, Ipoh, and Sungai Petani. Additionally, international coverage will include temples from India and Sri Lanka, offering a deeper glimpse into the grandeur of this sacred occasion.

To further immerse in the spirit of Thaipusam, Malaysians can also tune in to RAAGA radio, which will be broadcasting 24 hours of devotional songs, creating an atmosphere of divine reverence throughout the celebrations.

We hope, with our 3-day live telecast on Astro Vinmeen (Ch 202), we will be able to provide access to the various temples for those who may not be able to attend in person, allowing them to partake in this sacred ritual from where they may be.  We wish all those observing a blessed Thaipusam.”

Additionally, Astro customers can look forward to thought-provoking discussions on the significance of this auspicious festival. These sessions will feature renowned guest speakers, including Paandi Durai, Prof. Dr. Jayabalan Valliappan, Dr. N. Darmalingam Nadarajan, Dr. Sillalee S. Kandasamy, and Varatharaju Loganathan, who will share their insights and perspectives on Thaipusam.

The live coverage will be hosted by Sothirajen Paranjothi, Meenakumari Kadianpan, Komathy Veluplay, Aruna Raj Devarajoo, Inthumathi Subarmaniam, Nathiya Jayabalan, Mahendran Veluplay, Sri Kumaran Munusamy, Revathi Mariappan, Kabil Ganesan, and Sivaraj Lingaraj.
