The federal government continues to prioritize the economic empowerment of Indian entrepreneurs, with Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, YB Dato’ Seri R. Ramanan, announcing an allocation of RM300 million for this initiative as of February this year.
He stated that the allocation includes RM100 million for the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA), RM100 million for the Indian Community Entrepreneur Development Scheme (SPUMI) under TEKUN Nasional, and another RM100 million for the Bank Rakyat Indian Entrepreneur Financing-i (BRIEF-i).

“In just two months, we have distributed RM300 million, and the government is actively developing new initiatives to further enhance the socio-economic well-being of the Indian community.”
“I have also engaged in discussions with various agencies under the ministry to support this effort,” he said in a statement yesterday. The statement was released following the Vanakam MADANI engagement session, organized by TEKUN Nasional on Friday, to connect with Penang’s Indian entrepreneurial community.
Dato’ Seri Ramanan also emphasized that this initiative demonstrates the commitment and dedication of the MADANI Government, led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, to strengthening the entrepreneurial sector, which has long played a vital role in the nation’s development.

“I encourage all participants attending the SPUMI & SPUMI Goes Big briefing session to take full advantage of this opportunity to enhance their businesses. Additionally, I urge them to act as ambassadors by sharing this information with fellow entrepreneurs, ensuring that more individuals can benefit from this valuable initiative,” he said.
He stressed that the ministry remains committed to economic empowerment initiatives, particularly for the Indian community, as financial stability is crucial in shaping their future and prospects in the country.

These initiatives underscore the government’s unwavering commitment to fostering economic growth and empowerment within the Indian entrepreneurial community. By providing substantial financial support and introducing new development programs, the MADANI Government aims to create a more inclusive and prosperous economic landscape. With continued collaboration between the ministry, relevant agencies, and the entrepreneurs themselves, these efforts are set to drive long-term success, ensuring sustainable growth and a brighter future for the Indian business community in Malaysia.
