In light of escalating tensions and reported cross-border strikes, the High Commission of Malaysia in New Delhi has issued a travel advisory urging Malaysian citizens to avoid all non-essential travel to India. The advisory comes as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of Malaysians amid the current security situation.

Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan—marked by India’s launch of Operation Sindoor on May 7—the High Commission of Malaysia has strongly advised Malaysians to immediately defer all non-essential travel to India, particularly to states that share a border with Pakistan. The advisory was shared via the Commission’s official X (formerly Twitter) account. The High Commission clarified that this advisory applies to leisure travel and other non-urgent visits.

Malaysians currently in India are encouraged to register with the High Commission and notify them of their whereabouts by sending an email to mwdelhi@kln.gov.my.

For consular assistance, Malaysians can reach out to the High Commission of Malaysia in New Delhi by calling +90 11 2415 9300 or +90 11 2415 9311 (general line/operations room), or contact the duty officer at +90 85 9555 0564 between 4:30pm and 8:00am.

The High Commission continues to closely monitor the situation and urges all Malaysians in India or planning to travel there to stay informed through official updates. Citizens are reminded to exercise caution, remain alert to their surroundings, and prioritize their safety at all times.
