In a bold and thrilling move, Five Star Trading (FST) is all set to make its mark on the Malaysian Tamil film scene with its debut local production, Murugasirisham: The Orion, or MSS for short. This genre-defying horror drama, bursting with humor, suspense, and cultural flavor, is scheduled to hit theaters on 19th June 2025. And by all early indications, it’s not just a film, it’s a full blown experience.
A Paranormal Ride Through Humor, Horror, and Humanity
At its core, Mirugasirisham follows a young married couple and the wife’s younger brother as they thrust into a series of bizarre and life-threatening paranormal events. When everyday disturbance spirals into supernatural chaos, the trio turns into a mystic exorcist, setting them on an unpredictable journey loaded with revelations and curveballs.

What separates MSS from typical horror films is its refusal to be boxed into a single greener. It effortlessly blends elements of comedy, drama, action, and emotion with spine chilling supernatural sequences. This isn’t just a ghost story, it’s a layered narrative about relationships, faith and facing the unknown.
The Characters of The Film You’ll Remember
Each character in MSS in meticulously crafted, balancing humor and horror with relatability and depth:
Senthil played by Jegan Shanmugam: A newly married man in his 30s who works as an IT professional. Naïve, innocent and submissive to his wife, Sridevi. Slow to react to everything, but has a good sense of humor.

Sridevi played by Nirmala Tharmarajan: In her 30s, a tomboy-ish, unintentionally humorous character who is strong-willed and sharp-tongued but still has a healthy fear for the supernatural.

Siva played by Joshua Shashi Kumar: The younger twin of Sridevi. A quirky, accomplished head chef who takes his job seriously and may or may not have worked with famous culinary giants. Has a highly expressive face and overreacts to everything.

Soo Koon played by Kumari: A composed and intelligent intern under the film’s central exorcist. A serious woman with quick reflexes and a good presence of mind, she is the stoic Yin to Guru-G’s eccentric Yang.
Guru-G played by Vijay Ganesh: A spiritual guru, healer, astrologer and a paranormal investigator with psychic abilities. Although he is a legitimate master in his field, he comes in an odd, eccentric and slightly unsettling package
Guru-G’s character is as complex as the world he navigates. Operating from his lair above a shop lot in the heart of the city, he provides astrology services, spiritual healing, and ghost-busting, all while maintaining a strong online presence.
His quirky tools of trade are as memorable as his personality. Among his gadgets are:
- Pump shotgun– Used only in dire circumstances. Shot shells contain holy ash and gunpowder.
- Rudraksha maalai & rope– Each bead charged with protective energy
- Heat signal goggles- custom-made to detect paranormal heat signatures
Guru-G is not your typical hero. He’s unsettling yet fascinating, humorous yet haunting, played brilliantly by Vijay Ganesh in his local film debut.
Behind the Vision: A Passion Project Years in the Making
The journey of MSS began in 2014 as a spark of an idea. By 2017, it had evolved into a bound script. However, it wasn’t until 2024, when it finally took shape under the wing of FST.
