Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced the allocation of RM15 million for the implementation of free meal initiatives and food banks under the Dapur Siswa MADANI programme, aimed at reducing the cost of living burden faced by students in higher education institutions.
This allocation was revealed during the New Year 2026 address, emphasizing the MADANI government’s commitment to student welfare and access to basic necessities, particularly food.

The Dapur Siswa MADANI programme, introduced by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), will be expanded to institutions of higher learning nationwide. The initiative is designed to ensure that students, especially those from low-income backgrounds, have consistent access to nutritious meals throughout their academic journey.
Dapur Siswa MADANI combines free meal distribution with food bank facilities, serving as a targeted intervention to combat food insecurity among students while helping to reduce daily living costs.
The MOHE welcomed this announcement and expressed its appreciation to the Prime Minister for the allocation, describing it as a timely and meaningful measure to ensure that no student is left behind due to financial hardship. The ministry added that the expansion of Dapur Siswa MADANI reflects the government’s broader commitment to inclusive education and student well-being, in line with the principles of the MADANI framework.
