Sri Murugan Centre has officially launched its “Brahmasthira” online learning platform, which will now benefit 528 Tamil school students across 11 states in Malaysia. The announcement was made by Surain Kanda, Director-General of the institute, during the opening of the 2026 academic session.

Sri Murugan Educational Institute, founded by the late Tan Sri Thambiraja, marks its 44th year of service in uplifting the educational standards of Indian students in the country. Although its founder has passed on, his vision continues to guide the institute’s efforts in student development.

Surain Kanda said the institute has been continuously operating with the aim of inspiring an educational revolution within the Indian community. This year marks the institute’s 44th anniversary, and Surain expressed confidence that as it approaches its 50th year, the institute will achieve even greater milestones.

The 2026 education session began with the chanting of Skanda Velvi, followed by the formal launch of the online platform. The “Brahmasthira” platform was developed even before the COVID-19 pandemic and has since played a key role in supporting students’ academic progress. It provides structured online learning resources designed to enhance performance and accessibility. Yuneswaran Ramraj, the Deputy Minister of National Unity, attended this event as the guest of honor.

A new agreement signed between the institute and the Tamil School Headmasters Association will now allow all Tamil school students nationwide to utilize the platform. Surain Kanda said the initiative is expected to bring about a significant transformation in the learning experience and academic achievement of Tamil school students across Malaysia.
