Astro celebrates Tamil New Year with a vibrant line up of local and international premiers, offering audience a mix of festive entertainment across TV and digital platforms. Marking Puthandu, Astro highlights the spirit of renewal, family and togetherness, bringing curated content via Astro Vinmeen, Astro GO, On Demand and Sooka
Astro’s local Tamil line-up features a variety of shows designed to reflect the cultural significance of Puthandu. Among those are Rasipalan Chithirirai Special, an astrology-based show giving insights of all 12 zodiac signs, which premieres on 14th April.
Also airing on the same day is Sanjigai New Year Special, a magazine-style programme exploring traditions, culture and meaning behind Puthandu. Adding a modern twist is the telemovie Azhaikkaamal Vanthaai, which premiers on 18th April. The story follows a man who creates an AI-powered female lookalike, leading to unexpected consequences when technology develops emotions.

International Films Across Genres
The festive line-up extends to Kollywood as well, including talk shows, tribute specials and films. Among them are Suki Sivathin Paarvaiyil Chozha Raajiyam and a tribute programme celebrating 50 years of filmmaker K.Bhagyaraj.

Viewers can also enjoy films across languages, with Hindi titles like Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and Singh Saab the Great which airs on Zee Cinema, along with Malayalam films like Aavesham and Marakkar on Astro Vaanavil. 
Vice President of Indian Customer Business at Astro, Prem Anand, has said the festive program is aimed to bring families together through meaningful content that resonates with shared traditions and values. He said that the line-up spans multiple genres, including there is something for everyone during the festive period.
