TThe Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA), currently operating under the Ministry of Human Resources, has announced that 4,165 Malaysian Indian students in higher education will receive financial assistance through the IPT 5.0 Programme. The distribution of funds began on April 9, 2026, and will be carried out in phases for eligible students.
The distribution will occur in multiple phases to ensure that eligible students receive their aid promptly and efficiently. This phased approach allows MITRA to manage the distribution process effectively and to help as many students as possible.
To qualify for the financial assistance provided under the IPT Programme 5.0, students must meet several specific criteria. Eligible applicants include Malaysian Indian students who are enrolled in either a diploma or degree program at registered higher education institutions. Furthermore, the program targets first-year students who are part of families categorized within the B40 income group, which represents the lower-income bracket of the population. This focus aims to support those who may be facing greater financial challenges in their educational pursuits during the academic year 2025/2026.
The IPT Programme 5.0 is a significant step taken by MITRA to ensure that Malaysian Indian students have access to the necessary financial support as they navigate their higher education journeys. It reflects a commitment to fostering educational equity and promoting a brighter future for the Malaysian Indian community.
