Sivasangari Subramiam continued her strong game at the World Championships in Giza, Egypt, after winning against Tinne Gills from Belgium in straight games. She will now be in the quarter finals.
The world No. 5 won with 11-5, 13-11, 11-3 scores over the world No.10. The win is Sivasangari’s third success over Gillis in the four games. Previously, she won against the Belgian at Cincinnati Gaynor Cup in 2022 and Grasshopper Cup early this year.
Sivasangari was seen dominant throughout the game, winning all three of her matches without dropping a single game. She first won against France’s Marie Stephan before defeating fellow Malaysian Aira Azman in the second round.
Sivasangari will now face her biggest challenge as she prepares for next tournament with No.1 Hania El Hammamy of Egypt for semi-finals spot.

The Malaysian is hoping to be the first national player since Datuk Nicol David in 2013 to reach the last four of the tournament.
Previously Sivasangari has proven she can win against the Egyptian, including her victory in the London Classic final in 2024 and International Women’s Squash tournament in 2017.
Sivasangari’s confidence is also higher than usual by her recent success at Grasshopper Cup in Zurich. With national coach Ajaz Azmat guiding her, Sivasangari is believed to be in the right form for her next challenge.
