Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), through Malaysia Airlines and FireFly has announced subsidised festive airfares for travellers flying between Peninsular and East Malaysia ahead of Hari Raya Aidiladha, Kaamatan and Gawai festive period. The initiative aims to ease travel costs and help more Malaysians to travel back to their hometown during this festive season.

Here is what you need to know about the subsidised fares:
- Available for booking from now until 31 May 2026.
- Travellers can enjoy the special fares for flights between 26 and 29 May 2026 to Sabah destinations including Kota Kinabalu, Labuan, Sandakan and Tawau via Malaysia Airlines.
- Selected Firefly flights to Kota Kinabalu and Tawau are also included under the festive fare promotion.
- For Sarawak routes, the special fares are valid for travel between 28 and 31 May 2026 to destinations such as Kuching, Miri and Sibu through Malaysia Airlines.
- Selected Firefly flights to Kuching are also part of the subsidised fare initiative.

Malaysia Airlines and Firefly are also expected to operate additional flights to accommodate the increased festive travel demand during the peak holiday period. Malaysia Airlines will offer capped all-in one-way fares for several East Malaysian destinations, while Firefly will also provide subsidised fares on selected routes.
The move is part of the government’s ongoing effort to make domestic travel more affordable during major festive celebrations, especially for Sabah and Sarawak residents working or studying in Peninsular Malaysia.
Malaysia Aviation Group stated that the initiative reflects its commitment to strengthening domestic connectivity and ensuring Malaysians can travel home safely and conveniently during important celebrations. Travellers are encouraged to book early through the airlines’ official websites and mobile applications to secure the promotional fares.
