Rapid Rail carried out a wide system inspection of it’s train fleet after the disruption on Kelana Jaya LRT line yesterday (18th May 2026), which was caused by damage to a train component at the Kelana Jaya station.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Rapid Rail said the engineering team immediately conducted comprehensive inspections on all trains to ensure linear induction motor (LIM) systems were operating safely and efficiency.
Investigations found the incident involved a damaged LIM cover on train number 92 while it was in Kelana Jaya platform. The damage caused the train to become immobile, leading to delays and disruptions along the line.
Rapid Rail has given an explanation that moving the train while it was damaged could have caused more serious risks, including possible damage to the signaling system and the Platform Intrusion Emergency System (PIES) system located on the tracks.

The PIES system is a important safety mechanism to detect objects or passengers who may fall onto the tracks, helping to prevent accidents on any stations.
They also said the root cause analysis is currently being carried out to identify the exact cause of the issue. Findings from the investigation will be used to improve long-term operational procedures, and strengthen rail system safety measure.
The disruption caused inconvenience to many commuters as it was during peak travel hours. Many commuters faced delays and created a huge crowd waiting for the train. Rapid Rail apologized to passengers affected by the disruption and assured public safety is top priority.
