Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that secondary school and tertiary education students will receive RM100 book voucher to encourage reading and support learning.
The announcement was made during the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair. According to him, this will support secondary school students under Ministry of Education as well as students who wants to pursue higher education under Ministry of Higher Education.
Datuk Anwar said the government remains committed to make sure access to education resources despite current economic challenges. He also said that he told the Finance Ministry that although it is costly, the book voucher programme has to remain a priority.

Also present at the event were Education Minister YB Fadhlina Sidek and Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.
He reminded all the ministries, especially the Education Ministry and Higher Education Ministry to be aware of the economic situation while ensuring quality of education in schools and universities is maintained.
Continuing Previous Education Support
The latest announcement builds on governments efforts to promote reading and learning among Malaysians.
Last year book vouchers was given to approximately 400,000 teachers. The government introduced the RM100 book voucher programme for primary school pupils in 2024.
The continuous initiative reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to nurturing reading culture while helping students access books and educational materials which can support their studies.
