Malaysian squash player Thanusaa Uthrian has made another achievement after winning the Western Australian Open in Mirrabooka, Australia.
The 20 year old girl from Melaka has given a impressive performance by winning against Heo Ming Yeong from South Korea, who is the world No.154. Thanusaa won against her in 12-10, 5-11, 11-2, and 11-3 in 29 minutes.
Second PSA Title of Her Career
The victory is Thanusaa’s second PSA title. Her first one was in March when she won T-Force Pro Challenger Series in Philadelphia.
What made the latest win more special was her ability to win against three-higher naked opponents. After her win, Thanusaa said,
“Winning the WA Open title is a very special milestone in my squash journey. I am grateful to my family, coaches and SRAM who have been part of this achievement.”
She also added that this victory motivates her to continue working hard and aim for greater success on international stage.
Thanusaa reveals that her main goal this year was to break into the world’s top 200 rankings. She previously reached career high ranking of No.125 in 2024 before being sidelined for a year due to a right wrist injury. She returned to training in August 2025, and believed that there’s a space for improvement.
She is going to continue her competitive season at PSNS President’s Trophy in Seremban from 17th June to 21st June. with this, Thanusaa continues to show a positive progress as she works on climbing the world rankings and representing Malaysia on bigger stages.
