PTPTN has allocated RM60.1 Million under it’s Loan Advance Payment (WPP) scheme to support 40,099 new diploma students enrolling in public universities and polytechnics for the June 2026 intake.
With this, eligible students will get RM1,500 to help cover early expenses related to starting higher education. The financial assistance is to help students and their families during the transition into university or polytechnic life.
The WPP is given to Malaysian students who agree to receive the assistance when applying for admission through UPUOnline or the admission portals of public universities. To qualify, applicants must meet certain requirements, including having parents or guardians who are recipients of the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) programme.
According to PTPTN, WPP has been helping students pursue higher education for more than two decades. Since the introduction in1999, a total of 999,838 students have received it with a total allocation of RM1.48 billion.
Students can check their WPP application status in myPTPTN application. Successful applicants can get assistance at any Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB) branch nationwide by showing them their WPP offer letter and MyKad. The redemption period for the assistance starts on 10th June and will be valid until 9th August 2026.
PTPTN chairman Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim said they are still committed to ensure that access to higher education is available for all Malaysians regardless of their financial background. She said that WPP is made to help students manage some of the costs involved when starting their studies at public universities and polytechnics.
Students who want to apply for a full PTPTN education loan can do so through myPTPTN application according to the schedule set by their respective institutions. Applicants are also required to have a Simpan SSPN account, which can be opened through the same platform.
